Competition
Competitions are one of the greatest tools we
can offer our students in achieving their dancing
goals. Not only are they an exciting
personal challenge, but they are also
a whole lot of fun! Competitions
provide a glimpse of the greater community of
Fred Astaire, an opportunity to meet and observe
students from other studios, and the opportunity
to see just how far your own dancing can go.
Our competitions occur both regionally and nationally
in various places throughout the United States.
Students of all levels can compete against other
students of the same level, even as
a beginner.
August 2-5, 2007 - The 42nd Colonial Classic
is our second regional competition of the the
year, with students of all ages and skill levels
competing. The Hilton Garden Inn in Worcester,
MA will be the host for all the New England
Fred Astaire Dance Studios. Come join us for
this fabulous event, and experience the magic

November 1-4, 2007 - The Tri Star Championship
is the last of our New England regional competitions
for the year, with students of all ages and
skill levels competing. The Marriott Resort
and Spa in Mystic, CT will be the host for all
the New England Fred Astaire Dance Studios.

Showcase
Ball
A Showcase Ball is a formal evening of performances
hosted by our studio. The Showcase Ball is comprised
of students’ ballroom dance showcases, some
of which are performed at competitions. Any
student may choose to work with a dance teacher
on a particular dance showcase. What exactly
is a showcase? It is a uniquely choreographed
solo routine performed by the student and the
instructor. Showcases are a great way to develop
and demonstrate your unique self-expression
in your dancing, as the music used is your choice,
and should be something that really moves you.
