Weddings
Take
your first step together in harmony
and with grace...
Dancing,
like a marriage, requires reciprocity, commitment,
and a sense of adventure! What better way to
demonstrate to your family and friends your
commitment to one another than to perform that
perfect wedding dance to a romantic song that
figured prominently during the early stages
of your relationship.
That first dance together epitomizes your love,
devotion, and beauty as a couple! You can perform
like Fred and Ginger (or possibly even J. Lo)
with a minimum of practice and preparation.
Any couple can take to the dance floor with
confidence and grace with the dancing skills
they will learn at Fred Astaire Dance Studio
in Canton, Connecticut.
Where to begin? If you have not yet chosen
a song, you may want to consider what type
of
dance you’d like to perform and work backwards
from there. Would you want the classic romance
of a waltz, or would you prefer a relaxed and
jazzy foxtrot? Maybe the exuberant energy of
a swing dance or the intensity of a Tango is
more your style. If you enjoy Latin rhythms,
you may like a slow rumba or a lively
salsa. A simple slow dance is always an option.
Keep in mind that some dance styles are easier
to learn than others, so time may be a factor
in your decision. Our experience tells us that
anywhere from three to six months may be required
for couples to learn and practice their wedding
dance. We suggest that you practice whenever
and wherever…in the living room, kitchen, poolside,
or when you go out
with friends for a night on the town.
If you can, include parents and other members
of the bridal party in the dance preparations
- it’s lots of fun and provides a stress
reliever for everyone. Besides, people working
for a common goal usually persevere and nothing
is better than a beautiful, in sync, dance
presentation.
Couples should consider what they’ll be wearing
for their memorable dance. Likewise, couples
should also practice their dance steps in the
shoes they’ll be wearing on their big day.
If
you learn the foxtrot in a pair of flats but
wear high heels for your wedding, the difference
may surprise you.
Select a band or disc jockey that can provide
you with the variety of music and dance styles.
If neither one has the music or song you are
looking for, make sure they can get it and practice
it before hand.
Lastly, but certainly not the least, your dance
lessons can include a variety of different
dance
styles so that on your honeymoon, be it a cruise
or resort hideaway, you and your spouse will
be ready for anything!
